PAUL GILBERT

Started In The Freight Forwarding Industry: 1980.
Favourite Foods: Mums Roast with pav (inclusive of raspberries) or a good curry.
Favourite Tipple/Drink: Guinness and dark craft beers.
Sports/Activities Outside Work I’m Involved With: Play football in winter. Don’t mind getting my knees dirty. Attempt the occasional endurance race over summer e.g. Motutapu in Wanaka as the body permits. Love the outdoors, walking/tramping and travel. Started to dabble in Toastmasters, mucking about with music. Clearly easily bored, hard-work as a child.
Sports I’ll Go Out Of My Way To Tune Into: Football now and again, but frankly I prefer to play or be  involved somehow with a given sport or activity rather than watch. So, with due respect don’t ask me if I watched ‘the’ game? The short answer is probably not!
Other Stuff On TV I Like To Watch: I haven’t watched commercial TV for over a decade. Best I can offer are ‘dark’ foreign movies on the Rialto channel, chrome-casting re-runs of the films ‘Babe’ and ‘American Psycho’ or adventure movies off You Tube. Watching telly is clearly not my thing!
N.Z’s Greatest Sporting Moment Was?: Hamish Carter and Bevan Docherty gold and silver in Athens.
Music I’m Into: I play bass in an alternative band. Into a wide range of genres from Frank Zappa, Devo, Wire, Gang of Four right through to funk & classical. Big supporter of Indy Kiwi music, go to gigs all the time.
Music That Should Be Banned?: Rap, Country Rock especially The Eagles, Drum and Bass, modern garbage like Ed Sheeran and Adele. Can I stop now?
My Dream Car: 1969 Mitsubishi Colt 1100ss.
My Dream Holiday: My band playing as the main act at Glastonbury with Radiohead in support. Failing that, the beer garden at Ancient Briton in Naseby with Nick Cave on the pubs rotation.
